Accommodations and buildings made from Douglas-fir

All our buildings, whether rental accommodations or main buildings, are made of raw lumber. The Douglas heartwood we use is naturally rot-resistant and doesn’t need to be treated. Douglasfir is a fir tree that grows in our French forests : half of the Douglas-fir trees in the European Union are in France. The Douglas-fir used by Huttopia comes from forests that are managed in accordance with the PEFC standard. The wood is never painted or treated and turns grey over time to perfectly – naturally and visually – blend into the landscape.
Light installations

The rental accommodations developed by Huttopia (our Cabanes (Huts), Roulottes (Gipsy Caravans) and Canadiennes (Ridge Tents) can be found only on the sites that we manage) are all light and can be dismantled and moved. Built on stilts (or on wheels for the Roulottes), they respect the soil without damaging it. Plus, the roads aren’t tarred and vehicles park at the site’s entrance, on a specially designed car park. This lets us maintain a quiet environment, protect nature and ensure the safety of your children.
A window to the environment and region

When you stay with us, we want you to be able to discover nature and the region where we’re located. This is why books are available for campers in the facilities area (showcasing the region and its wildlife). We also try to offer local products at the grocery (canned food, fruit juice, regional specialties, etc.). Plus, thanks to our various partnerships with local stakeholders, we offer activities that give our customers the opportunity to discover the region and its products and traditions..
Responsible management of resources

Because water is a precious resource, because electrical consumption can be reduced, and because sorting is an essential civic responsibility, we encourage our customers to think about all that’s at stake : flow restrictors are installed, water use per camper is posted, low-voltage light bulbs are used, sorting is organized (we provide our customers with garbage bags), and we prefer wood heating (our huts and facilities areas are equipped with wood-burning stoves).
When we thought up Huttopia, we wanted to have a “fleeting” product of which
we could say : if one day we need to leave this exceptional natural site, we will leave no sign that we were ever here. This utopia was what we were striving for and today it’s present at all phases of our product, from design to management.
Because we like nature…

A natural swimming pool

Whenever possible, we prefer to set up a natural swimming pool, like the one we have in Rambouillet. This swimming pool has two parts : one is for swimming and the other naturally filters water thanks to special plants and ores. The water is naturally kept balanced and clear and doesn’t need to be treated with chemicals, unlike traditional swimming pools. This makes it environmentally friendly and more enjoyable for swimmers. Not to mention its aesthetic appeal...
